Deep Productions
A movie production and distribution company that delivers their product directly to their clients’ doorsteps. We were tasked with designing a new packaging in which the DVD and other goodies would be shipped out. By working closely with Deep Productions, we made sure that the packaging would accurately reflect their brand and appeal to their target audience. Since nowadays everything is digital we needed to make sure that the package stood out, so we came up with the idea of making the outer shell look like it’s part of a larger collection. Thus, the client is incentivized to keep adding movies to their personal collection.
After a few discussions with Deep Productions, we better understood the target audience and created several mock-ups, experimenting with different colors, fonts, and graphics. We worked on incorporating the “collectible” feeling into the packaging while making sure the branding was unmistakably Deep’s. They wanted to convey the idea of bravery/adventure while making sure the cinematic motifs and their branding stood out.
Following a couple rounds of amendments, the final design was chosen and sent off to production. The end result was a sleek and modern packaging design that accurately reflected the "Deep Productions" brand and stood out on the shelves.
During the design process, we updated their logo, designed a new pattern for the packaging, created a simple and bold front cover, and included space for Deep Productions to present to the client what goes into creating one of their high-quality movies. The feedback throughout the process was highly positive and during the final call, they also proposed we design the sleeves which contain the movie discs.
The sleeves had to be kept on the same line of “collectability” as the outer packaging, however, the theme and movie artwork had to be more prevalent. So, we let our pixels loose and came up with one variant we were very confident in…and Deep loved it. We’re looking forward to working with them again.
